My hubby and I went to see the movie Avatar tonight. I have been wanting to see it for so long and it’s finally at our theater. The theater out here is small. It only plays one movie and has two Saturday show times. But it’s a pretty nice theater considering…

The movie was pretty great. We both agreed that it was the best movie we have seen in a long time. I really enjoyed the action scenes and music. I really wish we were able to see it in 3D. I know that would be really cool. Who knows, Maybe someday when we get a new TV it can be 3D. I know they are really expensive right now… but we’ve waited this long for a flat screen, whats a little longer to get the newest coolest fad.

Check out my first attempt to Avatar myself. It’s a little rough around the edges, I guess I should have taken more time to really experiment and make it cool. I’ll probally try again, because I know it could be so much better.

Hope you all are having a great weekend!
What’s everyone up to?

I am thinking about purchasing a membership to Elegant Themes, just so I can download the On The Go theme.

It’s Thursday night and you know what that means. <strike>Thirsty Thursday</strike> Luigi’s is open. In case you are not familiar, Luigi’s Supper Club is a local restaurant in Kemmerer, WY, and comes highly recommended by the locals.

We checked out of course, and much to my surprise it was nice… but also a bit strange.

For one thing, the place is only open once a week, which is very weird for a restaurant. Second the place is ONLY open 5:30-8 and EVERYONE arrives promptly at 5:30, which I guess you kind of have to in order to get a table. The place is pretty big, but they cram all the tiny tiny tables into one tiny little corner. They really keep this place pretty small. You are practically on top of the people next to you.

The service, is pretty much the worst service that ever existed! If you could even call it that. The waitresses (there are only two) will get to you when one of them is damn well ready. After we were seated for about 15 minutes a waitress brought menus, and shortly afterward remembered to ask what we wanted to drink… She then prompty forgot to bring us the drinks. Another 10 minutes later I reminded her.. but felt like I broke some kind of a sacred code not to ask the waitress for ANYTHING.

The menu only had four menu options, changing weekly. This week it was Prime Rib, Pig Tails, Chicken Pot Pie, or Halibut. We both got the Prime Rib.

Dinner came with Salad and dessert.

The food was good. The prime rib, far too fatty for my liking, but that was just me. It wasn’t so bad… but it also took a long time to get our dinners. They NEVER came and refilled our little glasses of water.

The verdict is still out if this place is good (considering the other options around town) or just the strangest restaurant EVER. I’m leaning toward the latter.

Oh, and I desperately wanted to take photos of my food and of the place, but it was so odd, I just couldn’t bring myself to do it, and risk being ostracized by all the locals. Maybe next time. If there is one of course.

The other night I was randomly googleing Greg Laswell because somehow the albums of his I own are no where to be found on my computer? Weird right?!?! I know I downloaded them last year. Anyway, it was just a coincidence that the day I googled him he had a new album come out. So of course I had to get it right?

Right.

I just added it to the folder with his Covers EP.

So far it’s a pretty good listen. Sort of mellow. I’ll need to take some time to really get into it before I say more. But I hope you enjoy.

Something to listen to as you read on… For as long as you don’t reload the page that is

Skiing really kicked my ass. I am unbelievably sore right now. My neck is dying. I’m guessing I hurt it when I fell and hit my head coming off the ski lift. Rick had the brilliant idea that my hubby should “hold me up” as we got off the lift for the first time. I would have been fine, but my hubby god bless him, he tried to hold me up, but it made me wipe out and hit my head. I am suffering for it now…

One cool thing about living in a small town is walking to the grocery store. Nothing is better at forcing me to use some discretion when shopping. It really helps me just buy what we need and lot a lot of extra junk. I was thinking while walking through the junk food isle, ‘I’m not carrying any of this crap all the way home’. But then again, when I do buy crap, at least I will get a minor workout doing it. Too bad today carrying home the groceries was a bit of a chore because my whole body just aches.

I just made some fresh strawberry salsa to go with the talapia tonight. It is supposed to be a mango salsa, but our podunk grocery doesn’t carry mango. Image that! [I just love urban dictionary yaknow, only because I need to make sure my slang is spelled correctly! Am I a nerd or what! HAHA]

It’s pretty tasty, smells amazing, and is going to go great with the fish. I think I’ll make some herb rice and broccoli to go with.

I feel totally accomplished right now, because I just put a dent in New Year’s Resolution #1 Overcome My Fears. I didn’t really have this in mind when I wrote that, but I was totally scared of skiing and today I learned!!!

I was pretty nervous about it. But once I finished my first run I started to get the hang of it. I was pretty much the biggest noob ever that first run down. I didn’t want to go fast, and constantly trying to stop or slow down is pretty tiring. I even had a few good ol wipe outs.

The second and third times down I only fell once. So I started to get the hang of it.

My hubby was the sweetest and boy am I glad that he was there. He saved me from falling off a cliff. I wiped out mid way down a hill because I was picking up too much speed and got stuck in a pretty bad place that was hard to get back up again. I mean, there I was practically begging him not to let go of me as he helped me up and meanwhile I am dragging him down the mountain and practically took him down with me. I was really scared. He was a tropper tho and never let go. Finally I let go of him because I could she that he was about to fall on his face.

Overall it was a pretty good time. We went with some friends and one of them is a pretty awesome skier, so he taught me everything Pretty good time. I love trying new things!

My hubby is so sweet to me. He knows that I am sad that I had to miss my sister’s wedding shower. And while he knows that nothing can make up for missing the event, he tried to cheer me up by taking me to Evanston to an awesome little Mexican restaurant called Don Pedro’s.

It was really a great place. Delicious salsa and bean dip appetizers. I got the Steak Fajita Quesidilla, and my hubby got Monterrey Shrimp. We both really liked our food. The guacamole that came with mine tasted just like my hubby’s homemade guacamole (minus the tomatoes and green pepper crunch )

I almost didn’t blog today, but then my sister inspired me.

She is getting married soon and thinking about music for the father daughter dance. Woo. Fun times. I remember dancing with my dad at my wedding to Billy Joel’s Just the Way You Are. Great song. I also choose it because I will always have fond memories of waking up to the sound of Billy Joel EVERY SINGLE MORNING for years growing up. My dad used to listen to Piano Man a lot before work. I don’t have too many sentimental memories of my dad… but that is one of them. Along with my wedding of course.

One of the songs my sister is considering is also a song that is sentimental for me. I won’t ruin it, in case she wants to use and and maybe keep the surprise, but it is a song I listened to just about every day one year in the car waiting for the bus stop with my mom. Good memories. My mom was awesome and used to drive me around the block and sit with me til the bus came when it was bad weather. She was so sweet looking out for me and not making me wait out in the blistering cold.

I am biased, but I hope my sister uses the song. It would really be great… Although, I know whatever she decides to go with will be awesome! No Pressure G!

Anyway, I took a few minutes to upload a few songs to Box.net. Because who doesn’t love some new MP3’s??!?!? Just some songs I am currently into.. nothing too new, but might be new to you. What can I say, I’m in freaking BFE and haven’t had much time for new music.

What new stuff are you all listening to? Leave suggestions in the comments.
