Reality Check

Today we packed up our first load of stuff and took it to our storage. We are so lucky that my hubby has an Uncle who is letting us use some of his space for FREE. We are really grateful because it will save us a fortune not having to rent a storage unit. So THANKS A MILLION RB!!!

Even though I have been cleaning out the closets and getting rid of things, today was the first time that it really felt real. It was like a smack in the face that Yes, we really are moving in a few weeks. Sometimes it doesn’t really feel that way. I guess I have been avoiding thinking about it, because it is stressful to have so much ambiguity in our lives. I am a planning kinda girl and I’m not used to so this fly by the seat of your pants kinda stuff.

There are still about a million things to do and lots of decisions to be made, and it’s daunting, but I’m sure things will start to fall into place soon. Now that we have a definitive plans for storage, I guess we can start to worry about other things.. like my car lease, and our apartment… the list goes on and on.

More details as we get them.

I’ve been reading this blog for a while called Snackiepoo. It’s written by an amazing woman who is smart, strong, confident and funny, & even a little sarcastic too ;) . SCORE! She writes mostly person entries, and I love them, because they are open and honest. I really relate to the things that she writes about.

Sometimes it just really so rare to find people who are so honest and practical. I think sometimes people are content to live with their delusions rather than face a tough reality, but Snackiepoo really strikes me as a ready to face the cold hard truth kinda woman. She really just inspires me. I love her personality and her strength, and even just her thought processes, if that even makes sense.

I love reading her blog. I also love feeling like there are other people out there in the world who just get it, feel like I do. It really feels like we share a lot of similarities and would actually be friends, I mean, if we knew each other in real life that is.

But her blog is awesome. And her openness and honesty is refreshing. So go check her out. It’s a great read. Did I mention she loves grammar?! Double SCORE! I don’t think there could be a more perfect blog for me to read.

Video Conversion

In preparing for our move I have been cleaning out the closet and getting rid of a lot of stuff that we don’t use. I have been meaning to get rid of a few things for a while now, and donate my old computer somewhere or something.

Well, since we got the new computer, I realized that my camcorder isn’t compatible with anything past Windows XP, so its pretty much moot. It’s getting old anyway, and I don’t really use it since pretty much all regular cameras have video functions now. And when I FINALLY get my new camera it will have awesome video anyhow.

So today I spent some time hooking up my old computer with XP on it, so that I could plug in my old camcorder and find a way to upload my old home movies, so I can get rid of the camcorder. But as it turns out, I think the only way to convert digital 8, is by screencapturing or something. Or maybe that’s the only FREE way that I am aware of.

I actually forgot how ancient technology works Yaknow? So there I am, watching my video as I copy it to my old computer, and it takes freaking forever. I mean first the time to watch it, (like half an hour) and then another 40 odd minutes for it to convert it to a file. And it looses all it’s quality that way to. But I guess something is better than nothing.

I can’t believe anyone ever wanted to do it this way??!?!?! So slow. It was like a time warp or something, so weird to even go back to the old computer.

I now have a video of my mom’s surprize birthday party a few years back.. But I’m not even sure where I can share it online, because of all the size, length restrictions on all the free sites. I guess I’ll need a paid account it I want to put it up.

Regardless, I only have a handful of important videos I am going to convert, but it’s still going to take a lifetime.

Luckily, I have the time. And I’ll just do other things while it’s converting.

Looking forward to watching some videos I haven’t watched in a while. Like my sister’s wedding, and my nieces 1st birthday party. Woo Fun times.

Words With Friends

Sorry, I just had to post this … 155 point word in Words with Friends :D

I Love #DCTH

If you are following me on Twitter, you may have noticed, I frequently tweet about #dcth (Design Community Twitter Hours).

It’s a group of web designers who meet regularly on twitter to collaborate, ask questions, and learn more about design, best practices, current trends and the like. Its an amazing group. I love it.

Every Thursday its something I look forward to, a little time to relax and collaborate with other nerds like me. ;) I’ve got some awesome tips from those folks in the past! I mean awesome. Like, change my life and make it easier tips for how to design efficiently and what tools rock out and save time too.

Anyway, I’m always looking for ways to further organize my life. And this week on #DCTH one of the questions was how to organize without necessarily shelling out for new organizers.. And someone posted a link to an awesome blog called Unclutterer. LOVE IT.

I am going to have a lot of fun going through the archives and coming up with great ways to stay organized. Am I a nerd or what??!… Looking forward to cleaning. But I am! Because I want to have a freaking awesome gorgeous impeccable house someday. And it’s one step in that direction.

So yea, just ANOTHER reason I LOVE #dcth. Thanks peeps! :)

Happy Birthday Angie!

Today is Angie’s Birthday! Dont forget to call her before it ends and tell her you love her, and shower her with gifts, because she is awesome! And who doesn’t love gifts?!?!?!?

We met up for a drink in the early evening, and it was fun. My very first dirty martini ever. How the heck have I never had one of those before? So good. Angie has some cool friends, and it was nice to meet them and find some new people to play words with friends with. If you have the (iPhone) app you just have to add me. I am so totally addicted.

Anyway, It was a good time, and I am glad that I got to spend the day with her.

If I am really lucky, Angie will email the photo of us that her friend took, so I can post it. ;)

EDIT * I stole the photo from her blog :) and removed my red demon eyes….

Blogging

I love blogging, but more for myself than anyone else really. I don’t always have the greatest memory for some things so it’s pretty cool anytime someone says “remember that time…” and I can go back to the good ol blog and read about it. I’ve blogged about just about everything significant in my life over the last 8 years!

It’s cool because I can always remember dates and things, how I was feeling before and after big things… It’s kinda cool to see the progression of things.

So, yea, I’m about to pour through the archives, because they make me all happy :)

This Is Why You’re Fat

Thinking about submitting my photos of the Thurmanator to the site This is Why You’re Fat. An ode to “junk food porn” featuring galleries, local favorites, recipes and stories from the dishes’ creators. HAHAHA!

Everyday is Like Sunday

For some reason I hate Sundays. It’s like they are always boring, zero excitement.

I can always find something to do. I mean, I have a bunch of hobbies to entertain myself: photography, web design, guitar, violin, etc etc. But it’s kind of a lonely day, because no one ever wants to do anything – you know. Together.

And it just feels strange. Maybe it has to do with the amount of time I spend lying in bed in the morning, that the day just sort of starts of to a sluggish start and never really goes anywhere.

Today we went to Bob Evans. We met the in-laws there for lunch. It was cool because we got to see Great Uncle Tom and his wife Katie. They are really cool. Nice people in my book. Which you know is rare. Seriously, I hate everybody. But, like I said they are cool.

Grandma T also came. But she was on the far end of the table from me and I couldn’t really see/ hear her or anything. Which is sad. She is one amazing awesome funny lady, and I would have loved to sit by her.

I ended up getting blueberry stuffed french toast. I enjoyed it, but only ate about half. I am glad too, because I looked it up online and it has way too many calories. When I made French toast myself, I use healthier alternatives for eggs, & whipped cream. I also don’t use butter and use fresh blueberries with no corn syrup or anything. The Bob Evans version were stuffed with cream cheese, which I don’t normally do at home, but I would have at least used a low fat version. So yea, it can get pretty bad fast.

I don’t even really like Bob Evans. It’s a restaurant for old people. But since we were meeting a bunch of old people there, we let them have their way. Once we told them about the Thurman Cafe tho, and sent pictures, they all agreed that maybe next time we should pick the restaurant. Too cool!

Other than that, not much going on. We spent some time talking about our big move. It’s going to be a lot of work to get all packed up. I should probablly start sorting and cleaning today.
How was everyone”s weekend. Does anyone have any great Sunday suggestions?
